Having won the Under 7's last year, Ashington Cougars Under 8 Reds manage to successfully defend their title as under 8's at the Rudgwick Tournament in May 2016.
Played on a hot sunny day Cougars won five and drew one of their group matches they played in. They comfortably finished top of their group and progressed to meet Broadbridge Heath Bears in the final.
A tense 12 minutes resulted in a 0-0 draw and the dreaded penalties. The first six penalties were all scored with almost unbeatable shots by both sides. Unfortunately Broadbridge then missed and Jack Carter who had saved the penalty then converted his to win the tournament and rightfully man of the Tournament.
Can they make it three years in a row? Well played to all the boys.
